What's on the Turntable

Another great find. Yes, I know the stories about half-speed mastering and specifically the CBS Mastersound series. I have had many of them before and they were always excellent, and still are. Got this one earlier in the week. It is in an excellent condition. The only weird thing is how the records are pressed - Sides 1 and 4 on Disk 1, and Sides 2 and 3 on Disk 2.

That's one album I have never had, I have looked for it but no luck.

I had a fantastic English teacher who believed that listening to this counted as learning English. In an Afrikaans school, she was probably right.

Got two LPs at the Cinema Architects Open Day yesterday. Katrina and the Waves takes be back to 1985 when I was in the army and heard about the group from a friend. On my first visit home, I bought an imported German pressing. The one I now have is a simply local pressing, and I bought it sealed. Not all records need to be "audiophile" quality. This LP is purely for enjoyment and nostalgia.

@MusicMan , you have defeated me. I have no idea what that unit next to the Quad 303 is.

Your choice of vinyl that is now spinning is, however, outstanding!

Hi Eric, it is a beautiful aircraft transmitter used in WWII bombers: “
Stromberg-Carlson
produced communications equipment that was used in various "command sets," most notably the ARC-5 Command Sets used by the U.S. Navy during World War II.”

The side are aligned for those old stacked type LP players. You put two records on top of each other, and the turntable drops side 2 after side 1 has played. Then turn the stack around. Many 78's are like this too.
